What is your story? Medicine gives me the honor and privilage of serving humanity. I bring with me the empathy, passion, and motivation to help my fellow man. Yes it sounds cliche but I have spent many years trying to get to this point, and it was that drive to serve mankind that keeps me on course now. read other replies on this topic Are you in any special circumstances? Anything unique? I am first-generation. I carry the blessing and burden of being the first in my family to attend and graduate college, not to mention move on to graduate and medical school. Living below the poverty line most of my life has taught me to appreciate the blessings of my struggle and to see the lessons that each obsticle has provided me. read other replies on this topic What was the hardest part in preparing for med school? Being humbled and having to step back to re-learn in order to move forward. My post-bac program did an excellent job of that. read other replies on this topic How much did you work while going through pre-med? I worked a lot because I had to contribute to my families needs as well as my pre-med education. I worked mostly in food service, helping and tending to the needs of others. But I also volunteered with inner city student as mentor and a tutor. read other replies on this topic What did you do for MCAT preparation? Well I took the MCAT four times. The first two times I was ignorant of the scope of the exam and did poorly. The third time I took a Kaplan course and still did not get into medical school.
