| How much did you shadow physicians? | During my senior year I shadowed a family med doc for about 30 hours. I was not able to arrange this until about half way through my interviews. | read other replies on this topic |
| How much did you volunteer? | I had been active in volunteering throughout college thought various campus groups I was in. I spent three of my Spring Breaks on service projects, two of which were with Habitat for Humanity. I really did not do any medically related volunteering. | read other replies on this topic |
| What clinical exposure did you have? | Most of my clinical exposure, besides my 30 hours of shadowing, came through having a parent who was/is a physician. Growing up in that environment exposes you to many sides of clinical pracice that you can't see while in the office. | What suggestions do you have for the secondary applications? | They are less than fun. Just be deligient and get them back in as soon as you can. Stay on the people who are providing your recommendation. | read other replies on this topic |
| What suggestions do you have for the interview? | Relax. Think of who you are and what you want before hand. Be honest. Don't be afraid to take a moment or two to think about a question while in the interview. It can be ok to say "I don't know." | read other replies on this topic |
| Describe your pre-med schedule, typical day and week | Umm...it was pretty normal. As a BTS major I only took the required pre-med classes so for the most part I only had one lab a week. I study for a couple of hours a day then try to have some fun with the roommates. | read other replies on this topic |
| Did you do any other extracurricular activities? | Football for two years. Omicron Delta Kappa leadership fraternity two years. Resident Assistant one year. Studied abroad on Semester at Sea Spring '05. Habitat for Humanity. | read other replies on this topic |
| How did you choose your med school? | MCW was the school that made me feel like they actually were interested in me beyond being an applicant and actually wanted me to come here. Iw as impressed by the area, the facilities, and the people. When all was said and done, MCW had moved to #1 on my list. | read other replies on this topic |

| Any open-ended advice? | Always have a backup plan...I had one and knowing that there something else I could do that I would find fulfilling if I were not accepted really took a lot of pressure off during the whole process.
I thought all the practice exams were a heck of a lot harder than the MCAT.
